The Department of hydrotherapy at Govt Naturopathy and Yoga Medical College and Hospital Mysore, was founded in 2006. Accordingly, the Department developed the curriculum and college is attached to a Govt Naturopathy and Yoga Hospital with well-equipped hydrotherapy treatment section which provides various treatments for therapeutic purpose.

Vision of department

The Department has a vision to impart skill based, scientific and technical knowledge to students. The vision of the Department is to be an effective provider of knowledge and skills to treat the patients through Hydrotherapy and clay therapy. By using bathing techniques, Packing techniques and Mud applications


About the Area of Study

Hydrotherapy is one of the basic methods of treatment widely used in the system of natural medicine. Hydrotherapy is the use of water, both internally and externally and at varying temperatures, for health purposes. Also known as water therapy, hydrotherapy includes such treatments as saunas, steam baths, foot baths, contrast therapy, hot and cold showers, and water therapy.Mud Therapy involves application of mud which is rich in natural salts and minerals over entire body  mud is one of the five elements of nature, mud represents Earth and has a tremendous impact on the maintenance of health and prevention of diseases.


Infrastructural facilities available

The Department has excellent infrastructural facilities for carrying out teaching and research .The department is also attached with new hospital building which offers a plenty of treatments in hydrotherapy and mud therapy in order to treat various diseases. Treatment section involves separate male and female sections with well-equipped hydrotherapy instruments with well-trained therapists.  



Karnataka’s only government College of Naturopathy & Yogic Sciences, GNCYCM, was established in the year 2006 by Ayurveda Yoga Unani Sidda Homeopathy ( AYUSH).
